CAT CAPONE
OIL PAINTER AND ARTIST

Bio
From north shore Massachusetts, Cat Capone is a 2-D artist whose practice focuses on oil painting. Along with being a visual artist, Capone is also a musician and songwriter. During her undergraduate education at Endicott College, Capone combined her two greatest passions, visual art and music, to create her own major. In 2023 she graduated Summa Cum Laude, earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Individualized Liberal Studies: Art and Music. In 2021 Capone studied at the Florence University of the Arts in Italy for a semester abroad.
Capone’s work has been showcased at Endicott College, and she continues to work on private commissions. She is a recipient of the Presidential Art Scholarship at Endicott College.
In the fall of 2022, Capone completed her semester-long internship at Create and Escape in Peabody, MA as an art intern to help create a catalog of painting projects and assist in art workshops. Capone also completed her summer internships at Simple Sips as a design intern, creating special holiday labels, and at E.A Colangeli Construction as a drafting intern where she learned hand drawing techniques for blueprints.
Capone’s paintings reflect her inner world and express aspects of her personality that are otherwise unseen. She relies heavily on her intuition and bursts of spontaneity to guide her art making process.
Artist Statement
There is magic all around us. Some choose to see it, and others don’t. Creation, existence, love, art: it’s all magic. Women, specifically, are magical creatures, and those who choose to embrace their divine abilities can create magic in their everyday lives. I create depictions of feminine mysticism, taking inspiration from spirituality, feminism, and mythology. Painting is one of the few ways I practice magic in my life. It is the way I connect to the metaphysical realm to create what does not yet exist.
My projects begin with an initial subconscious vision. Spontaneity and intuition guide me through transferring my vision into imagery. To start the actual process of painting, carefully calculated sketches, and strategic planning are required until my vision and depicted images are internally aligned. My main medium, oil paint, allows me to achieve rich colors and deep layers in the artwork. In addition, gold leaf and glitter add an even greater degree of magic to my paintings.
As my artmaking process progresses, I continue to deepen my own spiritual journey. As a reaction to my artwork, I hope viewers, especially women, will awaken their untapped magical potential, and create a more meaningful existence.
